Company Overview

CSCC was founded in 1989 and listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1998 (Stock Code: 1723). As a subsidiary under the Industrial Materials Business of China Steel Corporation (CSC) Group and the only coal chemical company in Taiwan, CSCC acquires coke by-products (e.g., coal tar and light oil) from CSC Group and continues to refine and reuse them. Specifically, soft pitch, creosote oil, and naphthalene are produced from coal tar upon dehydration and distillation, while benzene and toluene are produced from light oil upon purification, hydrodesulfurization, and distillation. Thanks to our professional capabilities along with R&D and innovation over the years, we have successfully extended our reach to the fields of carbon materials and green energy in the downstream sector, solidifying our competitiveness in the process.

With a complete technical team in the areas of production and manufacturing, R&D, and quality assurance in addition to a comprehensive international sales system, CSCC is able to integrate production technologies in the upstream and downstream sectors in the coal chemical industry and offer customers products and services with economic benefits in a timely manner. In 2023, CSCC sold 215,727 tons of coal tar, 84,454 tons of light oil products, and up to 7,690 tons of carbon materials, with 53% of chemical products classified as GHS health and environmental hazards Categories 1 and 2.

In an ongoing effort to increase revenue, boost profits, focus on core technologies, expand marketing territory, integrate group resources, and develop green energy products, CSCC not only engages in the R&D of technologies and products that meet market needs and expands the scale of existing products, but also actively seeks collaboration opportunities to establish a carbon and coal chemicals-oriented material supply center, thereby becoming the best partner for customers.

The industrial parks in which our manufacturing departments are located have completed environmental impact assessment prior to their development. The sites of our manufacturing departments are not an ecological conservation area or water protection area, nor are they situated in a national park, a wildlife protection area, an important wildlife habitat, an important national wetland, a nature reserve approved and promulgated under the Taiwan Coastland Natural Environment Protection Plan, and locations above 1,500 meters above sea level. The Coal Chemical Manufacturing Department is located at a considerable distance from the Fengshan Reservoir Water Conservation Area in Kaohsiung City, while the Carbon Material Manufacturing Department is located at a considerable distance and isolated from the Mudan Reservoir Water Conservation Area in Pingtung County. Therefore, our production activities do not have an effect on the aforesaid water conservation areas.
